Piolet is an application created by MP2P Technologies. It is another peer-to-peer application devoted to finding and downloading music files on MP3. The application itself offers nothing new when compared to other peer-to-peer clients. The interface is very simple and well designed but, again, it is very similar to countless other P2P applications.
At first, when searching for music, no results were coming up - this was because apparently Piolet has to have a special configuration for specific firewalls. After configuring the firewall for Piolet, the application worked fine. Most of the mainstream music could be found easily in Piolet. However, some music could not be found at all, which was a bit disappointing, although this is not because of the application - it has more to do with the users connected to the network.
The application is very stable and the downloads go down at a decent speed, though you will find hard to experience the "speeds never seen before" promised at their website - just a very decent music downloader. If you are looking for alternatives give Piolet a try, although be prepared for a constant sense of déjà vú.
